I tasted this latest and very impressive range of 2020 Valli wines last week and was totally blindsided. I knew that Valli pinots were excellent, being "forewarned" by my first "awakening" at the Pinot Massif conference last year where the Valli 2019 Bendigo Vineyard showed as one of the top wines in a NZ tasting. But I wasn't prepared for the greatness, intense hedonistic interest and filigreed whole-bunchy excellence of this range of wines!

Complex and youthful with sweet baking spice scents from barrel and silky smoky quality. omplex and pure, more than just varietal a bouquet - layers of texture scents with sense of place and time then fruit aromas of crushed cherry flesh and preserved roses, raspberry and a soft savoury thyme quality. Seamless on the palate with a youthful core structure from fine needle point tannins and acid line, plush velvet mouthfeel with contrasting plum, cherry and even a touch of blueberry fruit.
