The Grivot family waited until 6 September to begin harvest, later than many neighbours, and even dropped fruit in certain parcels to ensure full phenolic ripeness. The reward is a range of wines with moderate alcohols, natural balance and supple, finely shaped tannins. Extractions came easily, fermentations were straightforward, and élevage was handled with typical discretion, modest new oak from several cooperages and bottling after many months of \"marriage\" and settling in tank without filtration, guided by the lunar cycle.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cspan\u003eAs Neal Martin observes in his report for vinous.com, these are harmonious, refined wines rather than showy ones. They are immediately pleasurable, yet comfortably capable of evolving for 15 to 20 years. Stylistically, Etienne thinks they have purity and balance very much to the fore. Attention to detail remains uncompromising. It's rich and full, yet it has a fine balance with great acidity and minerality, ultimately very powerful and Puligny-like. This is very much an insiders' wine and punches well above its weight. In blind tastings it looks like villages or higher.
