Medium to full-bodied, sweet uptake of plum and cherry, and again that hazelnut chocolate theme is repeated on the palate, tannin is fine-grained, and kind of sooty, there’s also clay and petrichor, and the finish is long and packed with choc-mint richness. Love the feel of the tannin, though as a young wine, it’s kind of ebullient in fruit richness. Resting just behind all of that is a sway of watermelon and black cherry, white strawberry and cracked fennel seeds. This is a very delicate wine that builds in momentum and volume on the palate, aided and abetted by a current of finely grippy tannin. I tasted this wine yesterday and again today, and it is wildly apparent that it has smoothed out and blossomed in that time. The tannins are certainly the highlight for me in this wine; they are fine and chalky and linger out over the long finish.
