This appellation is made up of two communes Viré and Clessé, so therefore it’s a “higher”, more well-regarded appellation than any of the “Macon – followed by a village” appellations. This is all fermented in 350lt barrels and aged for 10 months. This Rosso first released in 2004 is a blend of 50% merlot, 20% cabernet franc (a variety that this estate is famous for), 10% cabernet sauvignon and 10% shiraz, with the aim of cropping just 1kg of grapes per vine.
