College whilst studying wine. I don’t know Brad, but what he and his buddies did at Stone and Wood is phenomenal. I do know “Flammo,” and a more focused, expansive-thinking, hard-working vigneron is almost impossible to find (I’m not sure that there is one). I tasted this Decades’ Pinot a few weeks ago at a Pinot conference with Flammo (and I love Coal River pinots). After tasting good and great pinots all day, this looked really pure, perfumed, silky (but not a light weight) fresh, crunchy, juicy, complex and long.

Brad bought this old vineyard in Coal River which he and Flammo take on together, co-owning the new label.

Bravo. It's a beautiful wine. It feels unfettered and unadorned by artefact, with pure nectarine, citrus and pithy grapefruit at its base. There are suggestions of spiced oatmeal, stone, clover blossom and some vanilla and struck flint further back in the mix. It’s the palate that grabs you though, with its swell of poised stone and citrus fruits, the slink of pithy texture with a precise, slatey composure and wickedly mineral acidity that seems to pull the wine across the palate with grace, focus and pitch-perfect velocity.

95+ Points - Campbell Mattinson - Wine Front 'This wine is the result of a friendship between Steve Flamsteed and Brad Rogers that has been going for, well, decades. I tasted this wine through the course of an afternoon and it barely budged, though sunshine did creep up over the horizon; cool, modest, sure, blue-light in with the yellow. The colour is deep (for a pinot) and youthful, with an instantly expressive and smile inducing, enticingly aromatic nose of blue and red berries, ripe cherries and subtle floral notes (like violets). Hand-picked, destemmed and left on on contact with skns for more than 12 hours prior to gentle pressing; wild fermented in concrete and ceramic eggs (25%) before finishing with a 10-month snooze on lees. Owner and vigneron samantha Connew is very pleased with this eight iteration of the wine, describing its nose as a 'combination of wild fennel seed and bay leaf spice overlaid with some white blossom waxiness.' The colour is vivid, almost electric, and the bouquet is lifted, vibrantly alive and brimming with berry fruit, amaro herbs (like Campari) and sweet Asian spices. New oak aroma and flavour, although 20% of the 500lt barrels were new, is firmly buried beneath the fruit intensity.
