Chardonnay and pinot blend, 100% barrel fermented, traditional method sparkling wine. The grapes are hand-picked into small crates to avoid damage to berries.
The flavour and colour suggests chardonnay is the dominant player here. White fleshy fruits sit behind a marine-inflected nose and a wealth of autolytic richness - this wine is not only geographically but also stylistically situated halfway between Chablis & Champagne. The palate is all finesse, and the 4g/L dosage rounds out the piercing acidity and chalky minerality. Not your average Cremant de Bourgogne! Grown in the perfectly cool climate of the Auxerrois with Kimmeridgian soils to boot - it’s no surprise that Domaine Gruhier make great sparkling wines.
