2021 Rochette Bourgogne Aligote 750Ml BottleRegular price $33.00
With the same label design as Chateau de Beauregard, the Domaine de la Rochette clearly signals the common ownership of the Bourrier family, purchased in 2015. The tiny 4.5ha domaine is north of Fuissé, less than a kilometre from the Verzé AOC, and these vines are very old. The wine is subtly complex and the ripe nose combines white flowers, preserved lemon, hay and rock. It’s enticing, with a generosity of flavour that is cut by good textural structure and crisp refreshing acidity. It’s lithe as good Aligoté d’Oré should be (there are two types of Aligoté, the better 'gold",' and lesser 'green'), but similar to a good Chablis, it’s not thin. This is a delicious and great value Bourgogne!
"Fennel, green apple, wet ferns, basil. Wonderful perfume. More of the same to taste, crisp but with depth and texture. Faint cinnamon spice, a lick of wheat biscuit, but mostly about the fruit and herbs. It’s beautiful in the texture department too, the finish with fennel flowers so delightful. And minerality! It’s a quietly complex and utterly delightful white wine." 94pts - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
