2020 Mont Olivet Chateauneuf Du Pape 750Ml Bottle

There are no available notes yet on the fresh-off-the-press 2020 Cuvée du Papet, however the 2020 vintage for Chateauneuf produced more elegant and  finer wines than the big 2019. As Decanter Magazine says of the 2020 vintage "the best terroirs really shined, producing athletic, elegant wines of intensity and panache... the alcohol, which hovers around 14.5–15%, is less in evidence than in the previous year, tannins are generally finer and the fruit has an attractive, supple nature with red rather than dark fruit dominating the aromatics. There’s also plenty of freshness, something that is sensorially noticeable rather than necessarily the result of analytically higher acidity levels. On the whole the wines are poised and balanced with sufficient fruit weight and a certain accessibility, though the best are structured for ageing 15–20 years. So, if 2019 is for cellaring, 2020 offers a slightly earlier  drinking opportunity. If these conditions and the incredible 2019 and 2016 Mont Olivets are anything to go by, the 2020 Cuvée du Papet offers outstanding value and cellaring potential - get in quick!
