2022 Vrignaud Chablis
RRP: $77 | Offer: $59 | Straight 6: $55
'Fine pale colour with a light green tint. There’s plenty of wine here. Softly appealing yet still with a fine typicity, especially at the finish. Good length, all is there. Sweeter up front then finishes well. Pears too at the back.'

2022 was a very successful vintage for the Hospice, and chief winemaker, the talented and erudite Ludivine Griveau says she is impressed with the fruit and the tannins in the powerful 22 whites.
Being recognised and purchased in new barrels, and then raised by Pierre Yves Colin Morey makes this a benchmark white.
The Cuvée Docter Peste Corton Blanc, starting in 2022, comes exclusively from Corton Les Chaumes , which is situated above Corton Le Vigne au Saint and Clos de Cortons. The plot was originally pinot, but due to the limestone content was replanted over a decade ago to chardonnay. This is in the section on Les Chaumes directly below and close to Le Charlemange. This is “cheap” for a grand cru of such lineage and winemaking talent!

'It’s a beautifully complex wine, with savoury, spicy orange peel, cedar, dried herbs, pear and apricot fruit, as well as some sour cherry. There’s a lot of richness, with toast and spice, but also a nice fresh citrus drive, with real complexity and energy, as well as a bit of grip... This is a remarkable wine. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t expecting it to be this good, but it’s serious, gastronomic and really complex, up with the best rosé Champagnes from all the famous names.'
