A 15yo grand cru prestige Cuvee of immense quality and presence. This great champagne just keeps getting better and the opinions and scores seem to be higher today than upon release 5 years ago!

This is made up of 100% chardonnay from five grand cru-classified villages in the Côte des Blancs - Avize, Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Oger. Wow, what a pedigree!

"100% Chardonnay... If you have been holding on to it, I strongly suggest taking another look, as everything has pulled together, with the quince and brioche character more pronounced, along with smoked almonds and bright citrus. Drink: 2023-2038." 97 Pts. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux

"A firm, fresh Comtes with a tight and composed palate. It’s full-bodied with a racy mid-palate. Long and persistent. Very structured with phenolics and acidity. Minerally. Floral, too. Refreshing and energetic."
97 Pts. - James Suckling

18/20 points Jancis Robinson, MW

"…and only those houses with the tenacity to hold out until after the rain to achieve flavour ripeness produced wines of true greatness. Comtes stands tall among the highlights of the season. …2011 concludes with compelling line and length, riding the pure white cloud of Côte des Blancs chalk mineral texture. (Edition VII; 2024)"

96 Pts. Tyson Stelzer, The Champagne Guide

Landed and ready to ship from PYCM 2024

Au Bout du Monde, "The End of the World" is a beautiful cascade (and circuit nature walk) near the Castle of Rochepot, in the hills above Chassagne Montrachet. This high, 400 mas, site makes a strong wine, with marvelous grip and tension. It punches way above its weight. Cheers, Randall.

2024 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey
Bourgogne Haut-Cotes de Beaune Blanc Au Bout du Monde
$136 $129 | $125 in Straight 3-Packs!

'The enchanting aromas are more green apple than citrus, with an edge of hawthorn flowers, spice, and a saline edge. The texture is lively, with tension and grip, but does not lack the substance to age for 5 to 10 years in the cellar. The grapes are from an estate in Cormot that PY Colin split with Benoît Riffault of Sauzet (who calls his half ‘Jardin de Calvaire’). The grapes are lightly crushed and fermented in large casks and foudres, then aged for a year, followed by another six months in tank – exceptional!'
94Pts - Charlie Curtis MW, Decanter

2023 Font de Courtedune "Le Mourre" Vieilles Vignes
$52 $45 | $42 in Straight 6-Packs!

The Courtedune cellar is less than 2km from the legendary Ch. Rayas, the superstar of heady, classy, powerful, rose-petal and raspberry fruited southern Rhones. Courtedune vines are on and near to the same Courthezon sandy soils and even the Cotes du Rhone exhibits some impressive characteristics reminiscent of Rayas. I am really impressed.

The vines are 60yo+, and it’s hand-picked and grapes (mostly grenache) are fermented as whole bunches. It has more grip than your average CdR, and it has way more class and interest!

Gary Walsh from Winefront wrote a good note on a previous vintage that went along these lines; but to me this 2023 is by far the best of the last 3 vintages, and a wine of very special value! Cheers, Randall

“Black fruit, raspberry jam, quite meaty and nutty, a little spice and dried herb. It's medium to full-bodied, quite savoury with meat, dried herbs and black olive, some juiciness to red and black fruit too, with firm grainy tannin grip, balanced acidity, and a dry, spicy and nutty finish of good length, some bitter dark chocolate in the aftertaste. Kind of robust and chewy, but a good wine all up.” Gary Walsh, The Wine Front

2024 Bodegas Cerrón Remordimento Tinto
$34 | $32 in Straight 6-Packs!

This word means guilt, the guilt the family would have had if they hadn’t cared for / resurrected the old vines on these high sites (up to 1000 mas). This is clean, “purple” tasting, i.e. red and blue berries, cherry ripe, youthfully exuberant, juicy and nicely generous. There are no oak notes and plenty of mossy rocks, graphite, liquorice and dry earth too; and it hides its 14% alc. well. It’s more “Clare Valley - Wendouree” than “Chateauneuf du Pape) in this regard. I think is great value and super-interesting. Cheers, Randall.

2023 Bodegas Cerrón Stratum La Jervil
$45 | $42 in Straight 6-Packs!

Original French mourvedre roots, i.e. no grafted rootstocks

This is also monastrell from an ancient plot of 12 ha. Planted in 1954. Imagine the low crop here, of 1.5tonne / acre! This has dark berry fruits, freshness, generosity but not fatness. There are plenty of berry and cherry fruits and a Black Forest cake kind of rich ripe fruitiness. It’s mmatured in large barrels and there is no apparent oak flavour. This is also more “Clare Wendouree” than “Chateauneuf du Pape” in its nice sharp bite and ability to hide its 14% alc. Cheers, Randall.
