    Finca Los Aljibes
     Castilla
Finca Los Aljibes is located on the central Spanish plateau of Meseta in Chinchilla de Montearagón (Castilia-La Mancha). The Bodega is built in the typical La Mancha style and has 178 hectares of vineyards and horse farms. As implied by the name, the 'Selectus' cuvee is the top of the estate - the best grapes are hand-selected in the vineyards (which sit approximately 1000 metres above sea level!), and then sorted a second time on the triage table. Each varietal is fermented separately in stainless steel for three weeks, and then rested in French oak for 18 months. The cuvee is finally blended together in massive barrels where it is rested again for another 6 months before bottling at the estate, where a good portion of the wine is then cellared until it is deemed "approachable". This is an absolute bargain for a 94 point 16-year-old superstar of Central Spain!

"The Bodega’s flagship is called Selectus; no 2006 was made but the 2007 Selectus was worth the wait. A blend of 30% Syrah, 20% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Petit Verdot, it was aged for 18 months in new French oak. Smoky oak, pencil lead, Asian spices, incense, lavender, and assorted black fruits lead to a suave, dense, succulent offering that features outstanding volume and a 45-second finish. These new releases from Bodega Los Aljibes demonstrate what can be achieved by talented vignerons working in selected regions of La Mancha. Bodegas Los Aljibes is one of the up-and-coming stars of La Mancha." 94pts! - Jay S Miller, The Wine Advocate
