    Castello di Radda
    Chianti

This is a red-hot deal, a beautifully red-fruited, clean and vibrant Chianti (with potential to age), scoring 97 from Decanter, and also described by jamessucking.com as; "Super-clean fruit with light hints of dried herbs and lavender coming through. The round, very fine tannins are ripe and well meshed together with the fruit, giving a nicely balanced finish. Delicious." A gift from the Gods!
Radda is the commune in the epi-centre of the Chianti Classico zone (itself the bull's eye of Chianti) and one of the 4 communes that made up the original Chianti zone. It has the highest altitude (some at 600mt) sites and many of the 30 estates in the commune (including this historic Castello di Radda) are made up of limestone / clay soil with some sandstone too; all great for sangivese! This wine is made up of 90% sangiovese and a 10% mix of colorino and caniolo. It's aged in large oak vats and barrels for less than a year to keep the freshness and perfume. The wines of Radda are described as having "elegance, fragrance, finesse and longevity."
    Cheers, Randall

Castello di Radda 2019 Chianti Classico
    RRP: $65 | Pre-Arrival: $48
    In 6-Packs: $45

"One of the nicest observations you might wish to hear as a wine producer in the Chianti Classico DOCG region of Tuscany is that the contents in the bottle are described as “very Radda’, This signifies a Chianti Classico with obvious refinement, which in this case derives in no small part from the high altitude of the prized Radda zone. This area’s cool conditions are easy to sense in this wine’s smooth, palpable crunchiness, a Chianti Classico hallmark. Picking at optimum ripeness is vital for Sangiovese to show its brisk silkiness and finesse. The grapes ferment in a newly constructed, low-energy winery built into the rock. Small amounts of Colorino and Canaiolo grapes add colour and spice to the Sangiovese. The compact clay and limestone (’alberese”) soils here give mouth-watering wines with vibrant sour cherry fruit, really crisp and with well-shaped tannins. Very Radda. Drink now to 2030." 97pts! - Decanter
