2019 Louis Boillot Gevrey-Chambertin 750Ml Bottle
Regular price $189.00 Sale price $166.00From eight different lieux-dits and averaging over sixty years of age. The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has fulfilled all the promise it showed from barrel, bursting with aromas of wild berries, cherries, sweet spices, loamy soil and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and vibrant, it’s deep and concentrated, with a seamless profile and a saline finish. It’s well worth seeking out.
Louis Boillot seems to have read my mind when, as we began our tasting together, he ventured that 2019 is "the most elegant, refined and fresh of the recent warm vintages we've had here in Burgundy." 91 points - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Glowing imperial purple, this is as ever a high-class version of Gevrey. The nose takes some coaxing, not least because the fruit is so well balanced: there are one or two darker notes but it is predominantly an intense red fruit, on the cusp of raspberry and strawberry with very good acidity. 90 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
The 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village comes from vines between 50 and 80 years old. It comes across quite strict on the nose, certainly a lot more restrained than the Chambolle Village, with tight-knit loamy aromas. The medium-bodied palate presents crushed blackberry and cranberry fruit, a fine bead of acidity and impressive substance on the finish considering this is a Village Cru. A finely crafted Gevrey from Boillot that will last longer than I suspect many will allow. 89-91 Neal Martin, Vinous
