One of the most powerfully deep, profound and rich bourgognes I’ve tasted in the last year! I was blown-away by its freshness, deep colour, concentration and rich, mouthcoating palate. This is made from grapes grown within the communes of Nuits St. Georges and Vosne; a serious Bourgogne from 2.8ha, treated the same as the more expensive wines and aged in 20-30% new oak for 18+ months. Two amazing things about this wine are the seriously deep colour, and the fact that I couldn’t taste any new oak. That shows the extent of the depth and richness! This has lovely ripeness, Burgundian 'restraint', and silky but fairly firm, ripe tannins. Cold tea, the aforementioned raspberry, damp forest floor and fragrant spice bazaar aromas meld with crushed mixed berry fruit. This is a lovely wine and don’t be put-off by the cheap price, it’s only there to confuse us!
