2019 Mont-Redon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Plateau 750ml bottle
Regular price $476.00 Sale price $429.00'This could be the wine of the vintage in the Southern Rhone! Giant concentration and equally giant fine tannins fill out the widescreen palate in breathtaking detail. This extraordinary Chateauneuf beautifully expresses the special personality of the appellation. The blackest berries are married to a spectacularly wide spectrum of spice and dried herb aromas. The enormously structured and imposing finish doesn't want to stop.' 99 points - James Suckling
Currently in something of a purple patch, Château Mont-Redon is firmly on an upward trajectory. Under the guidance of Pierre Fabre and his team, the estate is producing some of the most compelling wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, particularly from its holdings in the cooler, northwestern sector.
Here, vineyards rooted in galets roulés, limestone and sandy soils yield wines that balance depth with clarity. The range spans classic red and white cuvées alongside the single-site Le Plateau wines, drawn from the estate’s highest, stone-laden plateau.
The classic red is led by grenache with support from syrah and mourvèdre, while Le Plateau Rouge—an even split of grenache and syrah—leans into a more structured, powerful frame. There is a subtle modern polish in youth, yet the wines retain their Southern Rhône identity and are built to age.
The whites are equally assured. The classic cuvée is raised in stainless steel, emphasising freshness and line, while Le Plateau Blanc—grenache blanc and clairette—is matured entirely in new oak. The 2024 release is a standout: layered, composed, and with a quiet authority that recalls fine white Burgundy.
