2023 Durieu Cotes du Rhone 'Pont de Pierres'
$35 | SPECIAL $29 | 6 Pack $25
50% Carignan, 20% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 15% Mourvedre
This is an amazing bargain, and we have 4 doz left. The nose is sweet with spice, clean earthy cellar floor notes and hints of fruitcake, currants, raspberry and gingerbread. The palate opens with clarity, ripe fruit fleshyness and drive, framed by lively acidity. Silky in texture, it moves with ease across the mid-palate, the tannins finely woven and unobtrusive. Subtle pepper spice adds lift before a finish marked by refined, savoury bitters that lends both length and distinction.
The clay soil and the 20 day maceration added suave tannins and the ageing in cement for 9 months helped to round out and meld the 4 varieties.

‘Restrained and poised, the wine shows white flesh peach, crunchy apple, nougat and oatmeal nuances on the nose, followed by a finely focused palate displaying linear mouthfeel and bright acidity. This is sleek and harmonious with elegant complexity.’

2022 Joseph Burrier Vire-Clesse Quintaine
$87 | NOW: $59 | 6 Pack: $54
This is a ripe, fleshy and generous, but it has a nice mineral “cut” and a vibrant deliciousness. Viré Clessé is one of the most northern of the finest Macon appellations, only 45km south of the Cote d’Or. It’s actually two village names joined, and the Quintaine sector in Clessé makes the “richest and fullest wines” according to “Inside Burgundy”, and this area its customary to mention this sector on the label.
Burrier makes this using crushed fruit, 100% barrel fermentation and ageing in 350lt barrels.
'From 1.2 hectares of vines that tend to be picked earlier than others, the 2022 Viré-Clessé Quintaine has a delightful bouquet with white peach and almond scents. The palate is well-balanced with a stony entry. Almond, wild honey and chamomile notes lend more complexity to the finish. This is an enticing Viré-Clessé… Outstanding. Wines in this range show superior character and style. They are high-quality wines that are well worth seeking out' 90 points, Vinous
'[..] Quite spicy, dry fruit on the nose, intensity and volume, the spice returns with a little oak. Perfectly bred on the palate, with a very satisfying and not too rich finish.'
90 Points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
