Beaucastel - A Grand Cru of Chateauneuf

Chateau de Beaucastel & Famille Perrin

Beaucastel’s, one of the few great "grand crus" of Chateauneuf du Pape, is a timeless masterpiece of winemaking. It's impressive that farming has been certified organic since 1966, and the vineyards have been farmed along biodynamic principles since 1974! Have a look at the Gigondas from over 100yo pre-phylloxera vines also!
    Cheers, Randall
"Everything you could possibly look for in a bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape—aromatic complexity, elegance, richness, balance, intensity, persistence—you will discover in Château de Beaucastel’s wines."
    Nicholas Greinacher, Vinous
Always one of the highlights of my visits in Chateaneuf du Pape, the cellars at Beaucastel were a bit dusty when I arrived, as the long-awaited expansion had just gotten underway ... Something worth noting, although the family doesn’t actively promote it, is that Beaucastel’s farming has been certified organic since 1966, and the vineyards have been farmed along biodynamic principles since 1974 (although not certified as such)."

Ch. de Beaucastel 2021 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Blanc
    RRP: $325 | Offer: $275

"All the power and textural complexity that we expect from the whites of this appellation is combined with wonderful lemon freshness and a pronounced salty minerality. A slew of candied citrus, pineapple and dried pear character. Wonderful silkiness at the very long, well-structured finish. Drinkable now, but best from 2025. From organically grown grapes." 95pts! - Stuart Piggott,

Ch. de Beaucastel 2020 Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge
    RRP: $279 | Offer: $239

"Beaucastel’s 2020 Chateauneuf du Pape is shaping up as a blend of 30% each Grenache and Mourvèdre, with 10% each Counoise and Syrah, plus 20% other permitted varieties, including a healthy proportion of white grapes. Complex and red-fruited, with hints of flowers and garrigue, it’s expansive and richly textured on the palate, finishing long and silky." 95-97pts! - Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

Famille Perrin 2020 Cotes du Rhone Rouge 'Reserve'
    RRP: $29 | Offer: $25

Classic Cotes du Rhone blend of Grenache, Syrah & Mouvedre. 2020 is an excellent vintage for the Southern Rhone, . Fruity and fleshy with beautiful tannins, it’s a great everyday wine made from the Grand Prébois vineyards in the Cotes du Rhone proper (for the Grenache & Mouvedre) as well as vineyards in the Vinsobres appellation (for the Syrah). Fermented in tank before being transferred to a mix of oak and stainless steel where they are rested for a year and then bottled.

Famille Perrin 2020 Gigondas 'L'Argnee' Vieilles Vignes
    RRP: $195 | Offer: $165

"A vineyard of less than 1 ha planted with pre-phylloxera vines in sandy soils, giving very low yields. Located at the southwestern end of the appellation, at the heart of the historic village of Gigondas. Only 1,500 bottles. Manual harvest, 100% whole bunches, pumping over, aged in oak for a year. Almost 100% Grenache. Cask sample. Mid to deep crimson. Distinctive garrique – wild scrubland – aroma (the influence of the whole bunches, perhaps). Wild flowers too. But also a richness of blackberry and mulberry. Velvety, generous while the tannins give refinement to the fruit. Firm, like many layers of paper" 17/20pts! - Julia Harding MW,

Famille Perrin 2017 Gigondas 'L'Argnee' Vieilles Vignes
    RRP: $195 | Offer: $165

"There are a whopping two demi-muids of the stellar 2017 Gigondas L'Argnee Vieilles Vignes in the pipeline, so readers will have to be on their toes to grab a bottle or two. Made from the same pre-Phylloxera parcel of Grenache, it's incredibly intense this vintage, boasting enough purple raspberries, black cherries and Asian spices to send me almost into sensory overload. Yet for all the flavor, this full-bodied wine is velvety-silky in feel, with a long, elegant finish." 95-97pts! - Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

Famille Perrin 2016 Gigondas 'L'Argnee' Vieilles Vignes
    RRP: $195 | Offer: $165

"Grenache, Syrah. Aged in old oak foudres. Bramble fruit, fine tannic weave giving shape without astringency. Much less oak influence than their Hauts de Julien Vinsobres, but equally impressive fruit purity and intensity. Crystal clear, with a lovely chilli spice on the finish." 17+/20pts! - Richard Hemming MW,
