    Domaine du Pavillon de Chavannes
    Côte de Brouilly

The Chavannes vineyard, established in 1861, produces exquisite wines generation after generation. In 2020, 5th generation winemaker Laure Jambon-Mareau took the reins of the domaine, and has brought this historic label, which is served in French embassies to esteemed foreign guests, to new heights! Unlike the traditional granite vineyards of Beaujolais, Chavannes possesses a rare terroir rich with pink granite and volcanic rock on the Côte de Brouilly, and is distinguished by low water stress during high temperatures .Full northern exposure on steep slopes ensures relatively sunny and consistent vintages with quality grapes, resulting in the signature spicy dark fruit characteristics of the wine. Much like the famed Chateau Thivin (to whom there is a close family connection!) this is a serious, ageworthy, 'Burgundian' expression of Beaujolais that is extremely pleasurable to drink now but will also reward time in the cellar. These two wines speak clearly for their respective vintages: the translucent 2021 a delicate, perfumed cool vintage expression; while the vivid-purple 2022 shows the power and perfect ripeness of that vintage in spades.

"Listening to nature, respecting the work of our ancestors and making the most of an extraordinary terroir around a reasoned and natural farming method. On each vintage, we strive to obtain the most authentic expression possible..." - Laure Jambon-Mareau
