    A New Era of Greatness

The "new" owners of this iconic Rhone producer, the Fery family have made some really awesome wines in 2019 and 2020. Since their first vintage in 2007. they have made significant investments and improvements in the vineyards and cellars, and the yields are much lower, giving wines of stunning depth, complexity and staying-power. The Hermitage red and white are belters, and the Domaine de Thalabert is "mind-blowingly" stunning in value! It's a most exciting spicy, peppery, ripe red-fruited.
Take a look at the Parallel 45 (this line passes through the Northern Rhone, but interestingly in the southern hemisphere it passes just below Tasmania), these are also amazing value! Cheers, Randall.

These wines are available on a pre-arrival basis and will be available for collection or dispatch from Friday 9th of June.

    Hermitage Rouge 'La Chapelle' 2020
    RRP: $602 | Offer: $495!

"At first this feels like you’re standing in front of a set of locked gates. Huge power and structure without that much weight, thanks to the wonderful freshness that’s intertwined with the tarry depths of this Hermitage masterpiece. As it aerates smoked bacon, menthol and licorice notes develop, but I’d need much more space to give you all the aromas! The huge tannins at the finish are finely chiseled, suggesting this has decades of life ahead of it. From 40 to 100-year-old syrah vines. From biodynamically grown grapes." 96-97pts - James Suckling.

"After the past several vintages, the 2020 Hermitage La Chapelle will need to add significant richness and concentration if it is to compete at that level. That said, it is still an excellent wine, with classic aromas of crushed stone, cassis, espresso and black olives. It's full-bodied, fine and silky, giving an impression of great elegance on the lingering finish." 93-95pts - Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"While there are faint roasted coffee bean notes here, which hint at the warm summer, and exotic rose and musk characters that only ever emerge in concentrated vintages, this is a masterclass in restraint and self-awareness.  While this 2020 perhaps lacks the overall gravitas and high-rise tannins of the majestic 2019 vintage, this is a very seductive La Chapelle and one that will appeal to lovers of textural, velvety Syrahs.  I am certain that everyone who drinks this wine will fall for its charms." - 19+pts - Matthew Jukes.

    Hermitage Blanc 'La Chapelle' 2020
    RRP: $532 | Offer: $452!

"Fresh apricot, pear blossom, lemon verbena, crushed flint, cream and sandalwood on the nose. Full-bodied, yet elegant and fresh, with vibrant acidity and a supple, seamless palate. Mineral, textured finish. From organically grown grapes. Try from 2023." 94pts - James Suckling.

"With a little more depth and intensity than Sterimberg and a more closed nose and palate, I am sure this will be a long-lived wine that will reveal more and more flesh as time ticks by.  Once again, the grace versus power ratio is spot on, and the fruit is incredibly austere and linear.  I tasted all of these wines over three days, and they all opened up gradually, revealing more and more fruit to counter the statuesque acidity that forms the foundations on which they are built." 18.5+pts - Matthew Jukes.

Crozes- Hermitage Domaine Thalabert Rouge 2020
    RRP: $90 | Offer: $77!

"A charismatic Crozes-Hermitage with tons of black-plum fruit, as well as hot-asphalt and cocoa-powder notes. This is remarkably open for its young age, in spite of the ample structure. Has a bold and tightly knit tannin structure, but should be drinkable from release, thanks to the forthright fruit that is very present at the long, moderately dry finish. From biodynamically grown grapes." 91-92pts - James Suckling

"Yet another beautiful 2020, Thalabert is deep, dark and brooding in this vintage, and it has an almost Italianate liquorice and black-fruited theme underpinning its Syrah characters.  This makes it an indulgent treat, and the palate is more velvety and forward than any young Thalabert I have tasted.  In addition, it has the stuffing to age well, too.  What more could you ask for?" 18+pts - Matthew Jukes
    16.5pts - Jancis Robinson

Cotes du Rhone Parallele 45 Rouge 2020
    RRP: $30 | Offer: $25!

A blend of Grenache 55%, Syrah 40%, and mixed grape varietals (Mourvedre, Carignan, Cinsault) 5% has ripe berry fruits aromas, some Indian spices and a smooth complexity.

"Full of life, thanks to the healthy tannins and freshness of the blueberry fruit, this has a very satisfying balance of fruit, moderately dry tannins and spicy character, with just a hint of milk chocolate. A blend 49% grenache and 37% syrah, plus small amounts of mourvedre, carignan, marselan and cinsault. Drink now." 91pts - James Suckling

"Following on from the terrific 2019 vintage, this 2020 is even more expressive and fruit-driven and perhaps a little less earthy and structured.  An incredible burst of redcurrants and blueberries leads the way, making it a thoroughly joyous CdR." 17pts - Matthew Jukes

'Cotes du Rhone Parallele 45 Blanc 2020
    RRP: $30 | Offer: $25!

"A fragrant white with aromas of honeysuckle, white rose, white peach, apricot, melon, lemon curd and apple tart. Quince, too. Full-bodied, round and soft. Fruity with a hint of nutmeg at the end. Grenache blanc, marsanne, viognier and bourboulenc. From organically grown grapes. Drink now." 92pts - James Suckling
