Burgundy and Kumeu are always mentioned in the same breath almost to the point of cliche - however, the wine speaks for itself, blows the cliche aside and demonstrates precisely why champions of this legendary NZ estate see a wine sitting comfortably among the greats of white burgundy. While the Kumeu wines are all gorgeous in their youth, even the estate wine will show its true colours over the next decade as it continues to unfold and improve. Jancis Robinson said of the 2021 that it was a "fair copy of a fine Chassagne" - considerable praise for a $50 chardonnay - I will be hiding a few of these away! Randall
