Weekly Super Special
This is a richly flavoured white burgundy from just north of the village of Macon, which (for geographic clarity) is about 15km east of the Abbey of Cluny, and 55km south of the Cote de Beaune. This appellation is made up of two communes Viré and Clessé, so therefore it’s a “higher”, more well-regarded appellation than any of the “Macon – followed by a village” appellations. This is all fermented in 350lt barrels and aged for 10 months. It’s a ripe burgundy with real weight and presence.
This price is a killer, but we only have a few doz. When vignerons make a wine solely from Quintaine its customary to mention this on the label as it’s the hamlet making the richest and fleshiest, most opulent wines. Randall.

"Not the Château’s own property but they run the vineyard of 1.20ha. Mid lemon yellow with a green streak. Quite spicy, dry fruit on the nose, intensity and volume, the spice returns with a little oak. Perfectly bred on the palate, with a very satisfying and not too rich finish." 90 Points - Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

This estate of 25ha. started in the 80’s, makes stylish, flavoursome and pure reds from the seaside and sunny region of Bolgheri.
