Here we offer an array of white wines from some of Jura's most teasured producers. From the mind-blowing density of Tissot's chardonnays, to the "unicorn" Vin Jaune that is Jacque Puffeney's last wine before retirement, and a rare sous-voile chardonnay from Jean Macle (the resistance war hero and guru of Chateau Chalon) - we have a rare selection! Cheers Randall

Marie-Pierre Chevassu-Fassenet
Marie-Pierre comes from a family of vignerons, taking over the family estate in one of the most traditional parts of Jura, Chateau Chalon, in 2008. She manages the 4.5 hectares, from vine to cellar door herself (3 ha is hand-hoed!), assuring the estate functions sustainably under her watchful eye. The vineyard is certified organic, she uses indigenous yeasts, and her grapes are harvested and destemmed all by hand.

Benedicte & Stephane Tissot
Arbois, Jura

"You can find in a wine the personality and the character of those who made it because each gesture, each operation, each decision has its importance." - Stephane Tissot

With a burning desire to show a sense of region and individual site Tissot makes power-house wines. They wines are certified bio-dynamic, organic and are all amazingly concentrated.

2021 Tissot Arbois Chardonnay Patchwork
Offer: $93
& 2020 Tissot Patchwork Chardonnay
Offer: $89
This is a very dense and mineral expression but stacked with flinty, smoky elements and very saline overall. Ripe, grannysmith apple, lemon and a hint of yellow fruit too, all wash around the palate with gun-flint and salty sea breeze notes. It's racy, succulent, oozing with yeasty  warm dough like character, it's very long and it ever so gently grips the palate all the way along.

2020 Tissot Arbois 'Les Graviers' Chardonnay
Offer: $157 | Magnum: $320

From a blend of 5 vineyards selected to highlight limestone dominant soils. Sourced from vines of 60+ years old. Explosive in minerality with a fine and svelte texture. Graviers, with its distinct gravelly minerality as the name would suggest, is always the most obviously electric of the Tissot Chardonnay offerings, with lashings of salinity/salted apple peel with rocky / clay mineral underpinnings that pulse beneath the fruit.

2020 Tissot Cotes du Jura 'En Barberon' Chardonnay
Offer: $182
'En Barberon' is made from a plot of chardonnay grown in marl/ limestone subsoil. The grapes are hand-picked and the wine is vinified and aged without sulphur, resulting in a concentrated and powerful wine.

2020 Tissot Clos de la Tour de Curon Chardonnay
Offer: $495 | Magnum: $990

La Tour du Curon is arguably the best site in all of Jura for white grapes, indeed, one of the best chardonnay sites on earth. A bold wine, distinct, powerful, strongly saline, very savoury, direct and exceptionally long and profound in its layers on layers of flavour. Perfume is no slouch, all salted cashew, ripe pears and stonefruits, ginger biscuits and floral things, so lovely to sniff on and evocative of the region. Phenomenal depth, incredibly impressive wine, moreish, compelling, complex, so packed with detail.

"Certainly a blockbuster chardonnay, rippling with flavour, character and power."
96 points! - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front

2020 Tissot Arbois Savagnin Ouille 'Traminer'
Offer: $156
& 2018 Tissot Traminer
Offer: $139

Savagnin is “white traminer” (worlds apart in flavour and colour to the pink traminer that is gewürztraminer): an ancient grape variety many thousands of years old. Stephane Tissot ages this wine in older barrels and he makes it much like a chardonnay. This is a wine of incredible power, textural complexity; dough, hay and saline-touches abound with a pleasing “chewiness” together with impressive density and length. The acidity, richness, and depth make it a powerful wine and this 2020 is the finest savagnin ouillé (topped-up wine) that I have ever encountered. - Randall

2015 Tissot Vin Jaune 'En Spois' (620ml)
Offer: $295
This is clay soil and an easterly exposure. More peat nuance, with a firm clay-based backbone and flattering generous robustness. From a 1 hectare plot planted in 1933. All of Tissot's single vineyard Vin Jaunes are full-on deeply concentrated but balanced, they are some of the most "exotic" Vin Jaunes in Jura with walnut, dried orange peel, celery, curry-leaf, zesty lemon, roast hazelnuts and iodine / honey / spice nuances.

2015 Tissot Vin Jaune 'Les Bruyeres' (620ml)
Offer: $330
Clay/marl soil with a full southerly exposure so the vines see some sunshine all day. 50yo vines. A large wine, powerful, opulent and 'solaire' (a wine of the sun).

A Piece of Vinous History!

2014 Jacques Puffeney Vin Jaune 620Ml Bottle
Offer: $345
The "Pope of Arbois" Jacques Puffeney's last Vin Jaune before his retirement.
This wine spent its first year ageing ouillé (topped up) in large (approx. 2700lt) foudres, followed by the obligatory ageing in barrels without topping, then finally blending and ageing for another year in large oak. In Wink Lorch’s seminal book “Jura Wine”, she describes this wine as having the power of Arbois Vin Jaunes, combined with the elegance of Chateau Chalon.

 Domaine Macle
Chateau-Chalon, Jura

Jean Macle (born in the 20's) is a resistance war hero, former mayor of Chateau Chalon and respected "sage" of the region.

2018 Macle Cotes du Jura Blanc
 Offer $139
4 years sous voile
"2018 is a warm and ripe year with rounder wines, and this is no exception. It has 14.5% alcohol but does not feel warm. It has a nose of spice and peat, hints of iodine and toast, with a round and gentle palate." 94 points! - Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate

2018 Macle Cotes du Jura Chardonnay Sous Voile
Offer $139
"With time in the glass, it develops notes of grilled almonds and spices, hints of peat and iodine. The palate is balanced and dry, with a chalky texture and long-lasting flavors." 93 points! - Luis Gutierrez, The Wine Advocate

 Domaine Berthet-Bondet
Chateau-Chalon, Jura

Domaine Berthet-Bondet was established in 1984 when Jean and Chantal Berthet-Bondet bought an old domaine that had not been producing for over 50 years, bringing with it 3 hectares of old vines. The domaine is now run by their daughter Helene, with help from her husband and two children.
