Mont Redon 100 Point Magic
Currently in something of a purple, or gold, patch, Château Mont-Redon is firmly on an upward trajectory. Under the guidance of Pierre Fabre and his team, the estate is producing some of the most compelling wines in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, particularly from its holdings in the cooler, northwestern sector.
Here, vineyards rooted in galets roulés, limestone and sandy soils yield wines that balance depth with clarity. The range spans classic red and white cuvées alongside the single-site Le Plateau wines, drawn from the estate’s highest, stone-laden plateau.
The classic red is led by grenache with support from syrah and mourvèdre, while Le Plateau Rouge—an even split of grenache and syrah—leans into a more structured, powerful frame. There is a subtle modern polish in youth, yet the wines retain their Southern Rhône identity and are built to age.
The whites are equally assured. The classic cuvée is raised in stainless steel, emphasising freshness and line, while Le Plateau Blanc—grenache blanc and clairette—is matured entirely in new oak. The 2024 release is a standout: layered, composed, and with a quiet authority that recalls fine white Burgundy.
‘I love seeing Pierre Fabre bring Mont-Redon back to its prior glory. I think this estate is unquestionably producing some of the top wines of the appellation today, and that should be no surprise given the incredible terroir of this estate.’

2024 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Le Plateau Blanc $306 Offer: $277
'Coming from 100% galets roulés soils, the 2024 Châteauneuf Du Pape Le Plateau Blanc is based on 70% Grenache Blanc and 30% Clairette, vinified and aged entirely in new French oak barrels. It brings another level of depth, richness, and complexity, with orange blossom, mint, toasted spices, and caramelized peach all shining here. Medium to full-bodied, it has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, integrated acidity, and a stunning finish. This unquestionably stands as one of the wow wines of the vintage, offering a rare mix of purity, precision, and richness, and can be kept for 20-25 years if you're so inclined. Hats off to Pierre Fabre and the whole team at Mont-Redon.' 100 points - Jeb Dunnuck
