Decades
The Coal River Valley delivers plenty of sunshine and cool nights, meaning long hang-time, and then flavourful fruit that tends to give intensity without heaviness and natural acidity in the wines from the region. Enter Steve Flamsteed, one of Australia’s great cool-climate interpreters, a winemaker who builds wines of precision, purity and place rather than ego. A former chef and cheesemaker turned winemaking icon, Flamsteed brings an unusually holistic instinct to wine.
Don't miss out on these stunning Tasmanian wines for under $80.

2024 Decades Coal River Chardonnay
'There is no doubt that something special is happening with this site in Tea Tree in the Upper Coal River Valley thanks to the efforts of old mates Steve Flamsteed and Brad Rogers. It's a beautiful wine. [..] It’s the palate that grabs you though, with its swell of poised stone and citrus fruits, the slink of pithy texture with a precise, slatey composure and wickedly mineral acidity that seems to pull the wine across the palate with grace, focus and pitch-perfect velocity.'

2024 Decades Coal River Pinot Noir
'Alluring is an understatement. This is bayberries, mulberry and wild raspberry compote, in swirls through a mascarpone cream. Slivers of thistle and fresh bay leaf nod to the careful selection of whole bunch from Dijon clones. [..] There is a harmony of silty tannins, punchy fruit circles back and it's the medley of red, winter green and tactile brown spice that keeps you sipping and marvelling. It's a wine of article and design but effortless and pure at the same time. The is clearly the Coal River Valley but with utter sophistication and its giving Tassie a whole new groove.'
