Dominique Gruhier (pron. something like the cheese), who's parents purchased the historic 12th century Abbey in Epineuil (Pron. Ep-en-oi, or something like that), has shown remarkable grit and determination to get this domaine to the station / reputation and quality that it is today.
He has emerged as one of the pre-eminent vignerons of the Auxerrois and he has also been a frontrunner of the organic movement.

"This is definitely a domaine to follow." Inside Burgundy, Jasper Morris.

We offered previous vintages of Gruhier wines last year with huge success in terms of very satisfied clients.
These whites with the new labels, are impressively ripe, opulent, honeycomb and alyssum flower inflected with rocky mineral notes. Gruhier wines are on fire and it seems the wine world is waking up to them.

"The 2020 Petit Chablis has a focused bouquet with petrichor and light apple blossom scents, commendable minerality for a Petit Chablis. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and fresh, plenty of citrus fruit mixed with clementine and a hint of lemongrass, quite complex and engaging. Superb." 90 Points - Neal Martin, Vinous

Domaine Denis Race is a beautiful 18 hectare estate with vines up to 86 years old planted on typical Chablis limestone-rich soils. The cellar is situated a stone’s throw from the northern tip of Montmains, on the outskirts of the village of Chablis. The domaine is now run by Denis and Laurence's daughters: Claire Race, who has been working with the viticulture and vinification since 2005, and Marine, who has been responsible for administration since 2015.
The vigorous and firm house style is characterised by an electric vibrancy, with luminous shimmering fruit. As the Race wines are not treated with any oak, they have an incredible purity allowing that inimitable minerally 'struck-rock' Chablis character to shine. This domaine is now well-known among our regular clients and has developed a loyal following, owing to the incredible value and quality these wines provide.

This wine highlights the high quality of the '22 vintage, with shimmering intensity, struck rock flinty notes and clean, juicy lemon fruit of limestone-rich soils. It's classic and of high quality. It's enjoyable with your oysters and / or ham as per Domaine Race's instructions (or whatever else pleases you)!

This is from a plot in Chemin Des Chaumes on the plateau above Grand Cru Les Clos. This '22 comes from a warm dry vintage but still weighs in at a relatively modest 13.1% alc, with surprisingly very respectable acid levels according to Guillaume. This was fermented with zero additives and left in tank to feed off the lees for 5 months.
Petit Chablis as good as this is rare, thanks to lower yields, a warm vintage for Chablis and careful, caring viticulture, this is benchmark. It exhibits the classic lemon pith, citrus and sea-breeze characteristics with inflections of honey and almonds. It's beautifully dry and cleansing; lithe with long and refreshing finish.

2022 Pavillon Beaujolais Blanc ‘Le Chardonnay’

This comes from the lower slopes of Mont Brouilly and is made by young pocket-rocket Laure Jambon, who is on fire! This wine is hand-picked then made like a traditional white Burgundy with 75% maturation in vats and 25% in barrels. It has quite impressive complexity for a white Beaujolais and also a saline / marine quality akin to Chablis AC. It's dry, nicely textured, fresh and vibrant with just a hint of brioche form the lees-ageing.

Domaine du Pavillon de Chavannes’ vineyards are the highest in Côte de Brouilly. The property comprises 12 hectares of vines, seven of them planted at least 40 years ago. The fruit from those old vines is used for the Cuvée des Ambassades bottling, which is one of the most delicate and precise wines in Beaujolais.
