Pinson & Boudeau: 95pt Cru Beaujolais $39 + Chablis Grand Cru $179

Our long-awaited container has just landed into the port with some amazing-value gems on board. The Nicolas Boudeau below is, in a word, stunning - how such an incredibly deep and concentrated wine from an enviable plot of old 100y.o. vines (with a humble 95 point score from Suckling!) could be had for under $40 is hard to believe, yet here it is! Charlene and Laurent Pinson - whose family has been growing in the region since the 17th century, are some of the most dedicated grape-growers in Chablis, echewing chemical sprays, harvesting by hand, and believing that every parcel deserves unique vinification. Their Premier and Grand crus see time in older oak - Laurent says, "not for the taste of wood, but to add a bit of density and complexity". On the whole the wines are precise & mineral expressions enjoyable in their youth but built to age. With a massive 2.5ha. holding of Grand Cru ‘Les Clos’ this is a very important wine for the Domaine. The oldest vines are planted in 1962 and the averavge age of the vines across the domaine is  50yo. These are great and very inexpensive Grand and Premier crus that you can drink OR age!
Cheers, Randall.
