Brovia, a revered name among Barolo cognoscenti, has emerged as one of the region's quintessential producers. Though once an underground name, the estate's recent achievements have propelled it into the upper ranks of Barolo producers, earning praise from reviewers the world over. You can pour any Brovia Barolo and the bouquet will bowl you over. Like Ch. Rayas from the Rhone, the aromas are sweet, ethereal, exotic and enticing. They are perhaps the most perfumed of all Barolos.
Quotes like "A striking, captivating wine that captures the best the vintage had to offer." are now the norm for this "Grand Cru" estate! Brovia’s wines reflect an old-school ethos from obsessive viticulture and classic methods with open fermenters and large-barrel ageing.
The estate boasts impressive vineyard holdings, including very old vines in the top crus of Castiglione Falletto (Rocche, Villero) and Serralunga d’Alba (Brea Ca'Mia), which consistently produce wines of profound quality. Cheers, Randall.
2023 Dolcetto d'Alba 'Vignavillej'$70 | Offer: $54
“Made almost entirely with 60-year-old grapes cultivated in the Brea MGA in Serralunga, the 2023 Vignavillej shows just how great Dolcetto can be when planted in prime sites and made with care. Fermented in concrete and refined in steel, it’s linear and succulent, offering juicy black cherry, orange zest and peppercorn before an almond finish. A Dolcetto with personality, it has a smoky note that adds depth while taut tannins provide the backbone..” 93Pts - Kerin O'Keefe
2022 Langhe Nebbiolo$83 | Offer: $69
“... a beauty, starting with its alluring aromatics of blue flower, eucalyptus, forest berry and spice along with a whiff of sun-warmed hay.
Full-bodied and delicious, the smooth palate doles out succulent Morello cherry, raspberry compote, cinnamon and spiced orange zest. Surprisingly bright acidity for the hot vintage keeps it bright while polished tannins lend finesse.” -94Pts. Kerin O'Keefe
2020 Brovia Anterse Metodo Classico Extra Brut$157 | Offer: $124
This name comes from the rhythmic, interlocking nature of the warp and the weft threads in cloth. A reference to the complex interplay of the white juices from barbera, nebbiolo and freisa grapes, and bottle ageing on lees for over 4 years. The barbera (60%) is grown at a very high altitude so can be picked fully flavour ripe and still with excellent acidity. It's finished with just 2gm/lt of dosage.
"Intense straw yellow. Very slow beads rising to the surface. A subtle nose of lemon, garden herbs, breadcrumbs. Linear, even a little brisk on the attack and with long-lasting CO2. Layered finish." 17+Pts - JancisRobinson.com
2021 Barolo $206 | Offer: $165
“The 2021 Barolo is fabulous. Aromatic and vibrant... Longer aging in cask than the vineyard-designates helps accomplish that. The aromatics alone are so alluring. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, dried cherry fruit, licorice and dried flowers give the 2021 tons of complexity. Bright acids pull it all together on the close. As always, the Brovia Barolo is built on a core of younger-vine fruit from Brea (about 70%) plus juice from the vineyard-designates that is left over after those casks are filled.”

2021 Barolo 'Garblet Sue'$341 | Offer: $269
This formidable cru (also referred to as “Fiasco” in our imported Azelia wines!) is in Castiglione Falletto on south facing slopes at over 250mts on limestone soils. The site is 0.7 hectare with vines planted in 1970 and 1979.
"Palish, youthful ruby. Immediately spicy and stony on the nose, while the fruit slowly emerges, showing a fantastic perfume of raspberry and cranberry. Fluid and transparent, with long, cool, impressively focused raspberry fruit carried by long, sandy tannins that build a real unity with the fruit." 18/20Pts. - JancisRobinson.com
“... a super-classic wine from this Castiglione Falletto site. Strong mineral, floral and savory inflections run through this deep, potent Barolo. A wine of depth and textural intensity, the 2021 has so much to offer...” 94Pts - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
2021 Barolo 'Brea Vinga Ca'Mia'$396 | Offer: $316
From the heart of Serralunga d’Alba, this is a one-hectare vineyard planted to Nebbiolo in 1955. The exposure is southeast and the altitude is 350mts.
"Enticing, minerally red fruit on the nose, with complex herb and spice notes... Ends almost a little mouth-watering and with real substance and length but without being heavy." 18/20Pts. - JancisRobinson.com
"... a rich, potent wine. Sage, menthol, gravel, licorice, incense and dried flowers run through a core of dark Serralunga fruit. This sepia-toned, brooding Barolo needs time, but it possesses notable textural depth and power...The 2021 offers a captivating mix of finesse and intensity, the duality that is at the essence of what Barolo is all about.”

2021 Barolo 'Villero'$396 | Offer: $316
A 1.5 hectare vineyard in this "grand cru" of Barolo faces southwest at an altitude of 340mts above sea level. The vines were planted in 1961.
"... a tight, reticent wine, as Barolos from this site often are. Spice box, dried flowers, mint and plum begin to emerge with a bit of time in the glass. This firm, classically austere Barolo feels rather shut down following its bottling. The Villero is always the hardest wine at Brovia to taste young. Even so, it oozes classicism. All readers need is a measure of patience.”

2021 Barolo 'Rocche di Castiglione'$396 | Offer: $316
The famous “Rocche,” in Castiglione Falletto expresses the elegant, "feminine" side of Barolo, and is always the most aromatic and sensual of the crus from Brovia. The sandy soil composition is in stark contrast to the soil which underlies its neighbours in Castiglione Falletto. The Brovia parcel (1.5 hectares) of this vineyard faces southeast and sits at 350mts above sea level with its vines planted in 1966.
"... a classic Brovia wine from this site. Aromatic, sculpted and vibrant in the glass, the 2021 has so much to offer. Crushed flowers, vibrant red/purplish fruit, rose petal, mint and cinnamon are all beautifully lifted. There's gorgeous inner sweetness that emerges over time. Silky, beautifully ripe tannins pull it all together on the closer. As always, Rocche is the most charming and sensual of the Barolos in this range. If I had to pick just one wine to encapsulate what Brovia is all about, the Rocche di Castiglione would be it. Superb.”
