PRE-ARRIVAL New Release Amiot-Servelle

Chambolle Musigny

The Amiot family domaine with Prune in charge of viticulture and winemaking is in full flight and becoming more respected each and every year. The organically grown grapes and the rigorous control, with only perfectly ripened pristine grapes being used, the small plot by plot vinifications, the diligent and judicious use of whole-bunches and 18 months oak ageing all play a part. The sum of the parts gives superb and tightly packed, filigreed red burgundies some of the very finest in the region.
Prune is not shy of using new oak, 30% - 50% in these three 1er crus in this offer. She is obsessed with cleanliness, and the family now has a brand new fermentation and ageing cellar meaning the wines now get moved more gently and great care can be taken overall. They are truly great, classic burgundies.
Cheers, Randall.
“This is a Chambolle-Musigny estate to keep an eye on. I’ve been visiting for over a decade now and always felt there was untapped potential, mainly because, despite enviable holdings, their winery was outdated and definitely short of space. That is all being addressed with the construction of a new winery building at the entrance of Chambolle that was used to vinify the 2022s. Though the 2021s were vinified in the old winery, the new facility afforded Prue and Antoine Amiot-Servelle more space, which meant that the barrels did not have to be racked downstairs. I notice the difference in their wines already. They feel calmer, more harmonious… This is a very promising set of wines, given the challenges of the vintage, and they should be rightly proud” - Neal Martin, Vinous

2021 Amiot-Servelle Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Amoureuses'
RRP: $1590 | Offer: $960
LIMITED - 1 bottle with min. mixed 6-bottle orders
“The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru includes 30% whole bunches and is matured in 50% new oak. The aromatics take time to open, eventually revealing Morello cherries, orange rind, a light marine scent with a hint of wet limestone. The palate is very harmonious with veins of blue fruit, fine tannins, well judged acidity, gently building towards a lightly spiced finish. There is fine symmetry and poise interwoven into this Amoureuses, it deserves 4-5 years in bottle. Excellent." 96 points - Neal Martin, Vinous.

2021 Amiot-Servelle Bourgogne Cote d'Or Pinot Noir
RRP: $110 | Offer: $67
(Chambolle commune)
This amazing bourgogne-level wine tastes like a villages wine, it's classy, deeply flavoured and silky suave. The 15% new oak and the "don't rush the wine" approach means it's aged for 18 months in barrels.
"The Bourgogne from Amiot-Servelle is made from 1.30 hectares of vines at the base of the slope in Chambolle. The surprisingly deeply-coloured wine boasts lovely bright cherry fruit aromas with a lightly floral edge. The texture is fresh, and there is good tannic grip. The grapes were wholly destemmed and fermented primarily in old oak casks to produce this lovely approachable red for everyday consumption." 92 points - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.

2021 Amiot-Servelle Morey-Saint-Denis
RRP: $196 | Offer: $119
“The village-level Morey from Amiot-Servelle is marvelous, with a dark colour ripe and a rich, plummy fruit scented with spice on the initial attack. There is impressive density, balanced acidity, firm-ish tannins, and surprisingly good length on the palate. The wine is produced from two parcels, one in the Clos Solon and one in Les Baraques, with a total surface area of 2.41 hectares. The grapes are fermented with a moderate inclusion of whole bunches, and... (is matured for) two winters in cask." 92 points - Charles Curtis MW, Decanter.

2021 Amiot-Servelle Chambolle-Musigny Village
RRP: $229 | Offer: $138
“Very cool Here the restrained nose is slightly cooler if more elegant with its combination of pretty essence of various red berries and anise. I very much like the sophisticated texture of the more obviously mineral-driven flavors that exhibit good delineation on the sneaky long bitter pit fruit-inflected finale. This is a wine that could be approached young or held for 5 to 8 years first." 91 points - Allen Meadows, Burghound. This wine has enveloped the 30% new oak over it's 18 month elevage and is a 1er Cru look-alike.

2021 Amiot-Servelle Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Plantes'
RRP: $315 | Offer: $192
"The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Plantes 1er Cru, raised in 30% new oak, has an attractive and pure bouquet with dark cherries and crushed strawberry. The oak is nicely integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. The judicious 20% whole bunches are neatly integrated, cohesive and gaining weight towards the finish. Classy." 93 points - Neal Martin, Vinous.
This is a tiny .4ha plot with very little top-soil, like many of the Chambolle crus, giving good minerality adding extra dimension to the delicate but haunting fruit and floral characters.

2021 Amiot-Servelle Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru 'Les Charmes'
RRP: $385 | Offer: $233
“Once again, an elegant nose is restrained, cool and airy with its mix of various red berries, spice and exotic tea. The super-sleek, intense and beautifully detailed flavors possess both very good volume and evident minerality on the youthfully austere and persistent finale. This could use more depth but a few years of keeping should develop more." 93 points - Allen Meadows, Burghound.
The Amiots have 3 plots totalling 1.3ha, adjacent to Les Amoureuses and below Feusselottes, one Grand Cru contender and another great 1er Cru. The poor limestone rock-inflected soil is only .5 metres thick so the wine is not only dense, fruity and intricately perfumed, but it'sdeeply minerally too. 18 months ageing with 30% new barrels adds to the lustre and greatness.
