2020 Brezza Barolo Classico
$125 | Offer: $107

'Rose, forest berry and camphor aromas come to the forefront on the lovely, classic 2020 Barolo from Brezza. Lithe and linear, the savory, approachable palate features juicy pomegranate, cranberry and star anise accompanied by taut, polished tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it balanced and bright.' 92Pts. Kerin O'Keefe

2019 Domenico Clerico Barolo Classico
$135 | Offer: $109

Located within the Monforte d'Alba lies this low volume production of sought after Barolo crus.

'A bright and primary red with sliced strawberries, citrus and stone aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fine tannins and a fresh finish. Tangy. Crushed stones. Juicy and nicely chewy.' 95Pts - James Suckling

2018 Vietti Barolo Castiglione
$195 | Offer: $129

'Medium ruby with faint brick and purple reflections; the bouquet is very savoury with clean leather and fresh-turned earth aromas, dried flowers and dried herbs, remarkably complex and deep. The wine is full-bodied and rich on the palate with intense savoury flavours and ample but smooth tannins that are in excellent harmony. Full finish and impressive length. A superb and quite powerful wine that over-delivers as an entry-level Barolo. There is an extra degree of richeness rare in Barolo at this level. Great value.' 96Pts - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

Producer in Focus: Dave Bicknell
The Guy Roulot of Gladysdale.
David Bicknell needs no introduction to winelover's as maker of the remarkable Oakridge 864 wines. They won him the GT Wine - Winemaker of the Year award, and praise from afar for these famous high quality and his very age-worthy chardonnays.

Bicknell FC is the family winemaking project of David Bicknell and Nicky Harris, and the Applecross site is one of Yarra's best, situated at the top of the hill in "grand cru" Gladysdale. There is 1 Ha of chardonnay and 1.5 Ha of pinot noir planted in 1988. The chardonnay here is one of Australia's most age-worthy, and both wines are amongst Yarra's finest. Dave's chardonnays start life  tightly wound with a serious inner core of power and a steely, classy chassis, but they full of fruit and complexity. The more you think about them, the more you look, the longer you keep them, the more reward you get. Don't overlook the reds; the pinots offer real class and depth, beyond their fame; the Cabernet is a classic too. These are amazing bargains at these special prices. Give this guru a break. Please try some. Cheers, Randall.

2022 Bicknell FC Applecross Pinot Noir
Offer: $54

'Partial whole-bunch fermentation (20%) and three days on skins before maturation in older French puncheons and barriques. A very bright crimson. Red-fruited and perfumed with its dusting of alpine flowers and gentle spice. Light to medium bodied with well-judged, fine-grained, 'al dente' tannins and the bright acidity that's always been the hallmark of wines from this cool site. A joy to drink now and over the next few years.' 96Pts. - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

2024 Bicknell FC Applecross Pinot Noir
Offer: $60

'From the old Lance's Diamond Valley vineyard, planted from 1976–1998 (with a selection massale from Mount Mary) and in 2003. 80% whole berry and 20% whole bunch. Bright crimson. Perfumed with wild strawberries, first of the summer cherries, subtle rose bush and spice. The more you swirl the glass, the more fragrant it becomes. On the palate, there is a tender plushness, making it feel quite different to the previous bicknell fc pinots from the Upper Yarra. Fine tannins and bright acidity round out a beautifully crafted and graceful wine.' 96+Pts. - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

2024 Bicknell FC Applecross Chardonnay
Offer: $60

'From a 330m-elevation vineyard in the Upper Yarra. Whole-bunch pressed to older puncheons and hogsheads. Natural fermentation and no mlf. 'Aromas of perfectly ripened stone fruits meet a little grilled cashew and gentle saline scents in this gorgeous wine. Gently fleshy but with that trademark Bicknell purity of fruit and backbone. Long. Lovely.' 97Pts. - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion

2024 Bicknell FC - Lance Close-Planted Pinot Noir - Limited
Offer: $79

'From the Lance vineyard, planted to 8300 vines/ha in 1989; a vineyard that produced some of the Yarra's most coveted pinots in the 1980s. A light, very bright crimson red. Fragrant and even more pure fruited than the excellent Applecross pinot off the same vineyard. Aromas of alpine strawberries, redcurrants, bergamot and subtle floral notes precede the palate, which is simultaneously concentrated and light on its feet at the same time. Beautifully delineated and structured on the palate. This seriously good wine will open up and blossom over the next six to eight years at least.'

2024 Bicknell FC Lance Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon
Offer: $79

'From the Lance vineyard in St. Andrews and off a block planted in 1976. 100% whole berries and matured in older barriques for 11 months. A medium deep, bright crimson purple. On the bouquet there's an exotic array of black cherry, blackcurrant pastilles, violets, lavender and dried herbs. This is medium bodied, the palate crunchy and saline, before finishing with gently ripe, persistent fruit tannins and very bright acidity. An elegant, medium-bodied wine that will be a joy to drink now and over the next decade.' 96+Pts - Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion
