DOMAINE DURIEU
(Due late 2025/early 2026)
This is an extraordinary and relatively new estate. Established in 1976, family owned and now covering 37 hectares. The oldest Grenache vines date back to 1914. Wines are sought after and a key estate making the finest Southern Rhone wines with a cooler climate approach.
Lucile Avril is a top cuvee and made from the oldest vines. On average, it is 80-90% Grenache, topped up with Mouvedre and Syrah. The grapes are not destemmed. The Grenache is aged in concrete for 16-18 months. The Mourvedre and Syrah is aged in French Oak. Bois Lauzon is from a Clos located on a cooler terroir in the north of the appellation. 100% old vine Grenache.
JOHANN MICHEL
Among the Northern Rhône’s fastest-rising stars, Johann Michel must be counted among the top in Cornas. These have been consistently very good to excellent wines, but the quality has noticeably increased in recent vintages. [..] Michel works just over four hectares of Cornas, and with increasing local demand, his wines are getting tougher to find in export markets. Josh Raynolds, Vinous
