Gosset Celebris
And more top vintage Champagne!
Gosset Celebris 2008 – Probably the greatest Gosset Ever! A monumental wine and one of the top 5 2008’s that I have tasted! It shows the best of what an illustrious vintage, epic grand cru villages including Äy, a great champagne house AND 13yrs on lees can offer. This is a powerhouse of a champagne, deeply flavoured with complex yeasty, brioche, citrus, dried orange peel, nougat, biscuity nuances and incredible balance, length and freshness with obvious adolescent age and the huge complexity that long lees-ageing gives. The palate has an “old-viney / great-site” resonance and power, all with a dry / low-dosage finish and creamy full-palate richness.

Gosset 2008 Celebris
RRP: $469 | Offer: $375!
"Dosage is just three grams/liter (or 4.8 according to some sources) and the wine spent well over a decade on lees – 12 years. First offered with the great 1988 vintage, this is just the 8th release of Celebris. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the wonderful 2008 vintage. The only issue is that a wine like this really will show even more class in years to come. Terrific now, it will be better in time. They made 15,000 bottles (they’ll confess to 20,000, but point out they have already drunk some and no doubt some have been cellared for release down the track-they have a late-disgorging program)." 96pts! - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Billecart Salmon 2008 Cuvee Elisabeth Salmon Rose
RRP: $409 | Offer: $375!
"Disgorged with seven grams per liter dosage, the 2008 Brut Rosé Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon is one of the finest wines I've tasted from Billecart in recent years. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of peach, mandarin oil, warm bread, red berries and petals, it's full-bodied, deep and vinous, with lovely mid-palate amplitude, terrific concentration and bright girdling acids. In what is quite a tightly wound vintage and from a house whose style is rather understated, this is a dramatic, fleshy wine that concludes with a long, flavorful finish." 97+pts! - William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
Taittinger 2006 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs
RRP: $690 | Offer: $595!
"The 2006 Comtes de Champagne is striking, especially in the way it brings together elements of ripeness and freshness in a hypothetical blend of the 2002 and 2004. Smooth and creamy on the palate, the 2006 is all about texture. There is a real feeling of density and weight in the 2006, qualities I expect to see grow with time in the bottle. All the elements fall into place effortlessly. The 2006 has been nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it. Comtes de Champagne remains the single best value (in relative terms) in tête de cuvée Champagne. I suggest buying a case and following it over the next 20-30 years, which is exactly what I intend to do. There is little doubt the 2006 Comtes de Champagne is a magical Champagne in the making." 97+pts! - Antonio Galloni, Vinous
Taittinger 2011 Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs
RRP: $445 | Offer: $395!
"A firm, fresh Comtes with a tight and composed palate. It’s full-bodied with a racy mid-palate. Long and persistent. Very structured with phenolics and acidity. Minerally. Floral, too. Refreshing and energetic." 97pts! - James Suckling
