The 2019 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru, which has one of the highest degrees of alcohol, also has the most tension and mineralité on the nose among Grivot’s cuvées from this commune. Black cherries, raspberry, blood orange and crushed stone soar from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm grip, very minerally and tensile, displaying superb delineation and transparency toward the finish. Very long aftertaste. There is plenty of sauvage elements to the ripe and fresh aromas of pungent earth, plum, wild black cherry and a hint of game. There is more volume, richness and power if less refinement to the broad-shouldered flavors that flash excellent depth and persistence on the very firmly structured finale.
