2021 Giaconda Beechworth Nebbiolo 750Ml Bottle

The 2021 Nebbiolo leads with Boscobel rose and orange cream, asphalt and crushed rocks, layers of white pepper and scraped vanilla pod. Resting just behind all of that is a sway of watermelon and black cherry, white strawberry and cracked fennel seeds. This is a very delicate wine that builds in momentum and volume on the palate, aided and abetted by a current of finely grippy tannin. I tasted this wine yesterday and again today, and it is wildly apparent that it has smoothed out and blossomed in that time. The tannins are certainly the highlight for me in this wine; they are fine and chalky and linger out over the long finish. Excellent. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and wax.

Quite minty and aniseedy, tobacco and nutmeg,  blue and red fruit, then there’s squishy blue fruit and mint, almond and quiet grip to tannin, some succulence, some cherry and autumnal character, with grainy tannin to close along with some nutty flavours. Mint is a theme, but nice wine all up."
