2021 Louis Jadot Gevrey Chambertin Clos St. Jacques Premier Cru

90-92 points - Neal Martin, Vinous
The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques ler Cru shows just a tiny reduction on the nose, reluctantly opening with brambly red fruit, undergrowth and Earl Grey aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins. It's quite "racy" in the mouth and a little tarry toward the finish. Presents good depth and length, though I find myself drawn more towards the Gevrey ler Cru. Just needs to find its "groove".

92-94 points - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Moderate wood combines with cool aromas spice, violet, lilac, red currant and just enough sauvage character to be interesting. The exceptionally rich and generously proportioned flavors coat the palate with sappy dry extract on the solidly powerful yet suave bitter pit fruit-inflected finish. This is an atypical 2021 as it is more like a 2020 on the palate though without the higher ripeness levels. Excellent development potential here.
