Charmes is a vineyard name we find in many communes and according to Jasper Morris (and this makes a lot of sense) the wines are charming, balances, easy to approach and enjoyable. This is the case here, but this is also a wine of great density and cellaring potential, and it’s a Chambolle blue blood in terms of style with a mineral / muscular backbone wrapped in flesh with blue fruits and classy spice notes.
"The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru is matured in 30% new oak with 40% whole bunches. This is much more backward and surly on the nose than the preceding Fuées, offering blackberry, cranberry, wild hedgerow and touches of forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with firm structure. Good grip here, fresh and sapid with a briny finish that gets the saliva flowing. Cellar this whilst drinking the Fuées." 93-95 points! - Neal Martin, Vinous
