2022 Jean Grivot Bourgogne Chardonnay 750ml

This is 100% Vosne Romanee blanc (from a "red" villages plot near 1er Cru Clos de Reas), that has no official AC for white, so it has to be called "Bourgogne" Blanc. This is Grivot's only white, and it's made in a non-interventionist, reductive way and totally barrel fermented. Very little stirring of lees and very much just left alone, apart from regular topping up. It's rich and full, yet it has a fine balance with great acidity and minerality, ultimately very powerful and Puligny-like. This is very much an insiders' wine and punches well above its weight. In blind tastings it looks like villages or higher. The '22 is impressive and "in the zone" of power, perfect ripeness and great backbone.
