2020 Georges Duboeuf Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru "Le Clos Reyssier" 750ml Bottle

This is a surprisingly great wine! A far better quality than this big producer has a reputation for (at least in my mind). It’s superb in style, quality, interest and value.

The 1er Cru site is on the east-facing slopes of Chaintré in the epicentre of the Macon region, adjacent to the commune of Fuisse (there are only 4 villages that make up the 1er Cru Pouilly Fuisse AOC). The 1.5ha of vines have given a vibrant and rich wine with power class and a striking reductive / savory character to marry with the saline minerality and lemon and pineapple fruit notes. The tension is impressive and I made a mental note to buy some bottles, 1 to try with dinner as soon as it arrives!  I believe it will age nicely for at least 5 years too.
