2018 Chateau de Beauregard Saint-Veran 'En Faux' 750Ml Bottle

"From a lofty (for Burgundy) 340 metres above sea level, facing towards Fuisse. Grapes are firmly pressed for texture in the resulting wine. The family has been growing vines in Burgundy for 17 generations, the back label tells me in French and English. My scrappy Quebecois French often has people saying ‘you speak like my grandma’ when I try it on in France; like ye olde English, somewhat, more guttural perhaps. Anyways. A plot with 35-year-old-or-so vines.

This is waxy and briny, a firmness that feels appealing plays a hand and the rest is powdery green apple, lime, quinine, just ripe nectarine and faint tropical characters. Very vibrant and thirst-slaking in its way, long, trim finish with some squeakiness and zesty grapefruit juice to close. Scents and flavours in synch. Very appealing in a tightly wound, slightly juicy way, and feels unadorned by seasoning and winemaking. Lovely stuff to drink" 93pts - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
