PRE ARRIVAL 2023 Chateau du Clos Pouilly Fuisse 1er Cru Pouilly 750Ml Bottle
Regular price $158.00 Sale price $99.00'The soil is a downwash of clay on marl, very similar to Les Reisses (see Château de Beauregard). A glowing lively yellow colour. No feeling of the south here, yet increased density on the nose. The balance of everything, power, class, restraint. White fruit with a little inflection of yellow. Strongly marl influenced. The natural acidity is more of minerality here without taking on iodine character. Brilliantly persistent.' An outstanding wine in its category. This accolade will be given very rarely, certainly to less than 10% of wines tasted across the year. A generic Bourgogne might deserve this reward if it merits 89 or 90 points whereas a Puligny-Montrachet Les Pucelles would need 96 for the same result. 94 points, 5 stars - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
'The 2023 Pouilly-Fuissé Pouilly ler Cru has quite an understated bouquet that demands coaxing, but almost reluctantly reveals crushed stone and loamy scents intertwined with yellow fruit. The palate is well balanced with a very subtle reduction on the entry. There is a keen line of acidity with a saline (verging on peppery) finish. Distant in a way, but I would happily stick some of these in my cellar.' 91+ points - Neal Martin, Vinous
'Both discreet dollops of wood toast and spice are present on the aromas of mineral reduction, white orchard fruit and a hint of zest. The intense medium weight flavors possess fine richness and volume that contributes to a beguiling texture that carries over to the youthfully austere bitter lemon-inflected finish that is well-balanced and attractively detailed. This too could use better depth but that should just be a matter of moderate patience.' 90-92 points, Outstanding - Allen Meadows, Bughound
