PRE-ARRIVAL 2023 Fontaine-Gagnard Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge 750Ml Bottle

From various parcels of old vines planted between 1938(!) and 1987 with the family replacing single vines that die or are not in great shape. This has a little more richness, more firmness and more 'cut" than the Bourgogne, not surprisingly.

'The 2023 Chassagne-Montrachet Rouge has a well-defined, Pommard-like earthy bouquet that unfolds nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red and blue fruit tones. It's quite dense toward the finish and just needs a little more amplitude.'

'Once again notes of pepper and earth are present on the ripe mix of both red and dark currant. The rich, supple and succulent middle weight flavors also conclude in a mildly rustic finish that is a bit short at present. Correct but not special for its level.'
