These grapes come from a small .33 ha parcel which was planted in 1979. Fontaine-Gagnard has one of the largest pieces of the smallest grand cru in the Côte de Beaune, "Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet." Clive Coates named the Fontaine-Gagnard Criots as “one of the very best sources for this tiny grand cru.”

(from 3 separate parcels of vines that are now 100 years of age that aggregate .33 ha). 'A slightly more exotic if otherwise similar nose gives way to denser and wonderfully seductive larger-scaled flavors that coat the palate with sappy dry extract that also serves to buffer the moderately firm lemon-tinged acid spine supporting the powerful finish that goes on and on. 'The 2023 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru takes time to unfurl touches of walnut and smoke infusing its citrus fruit notes in the glass. The palate is well balanced, very smooth and slightly creamy in texture with discrete hints of praline and white chocolate. This lingers long in the mouth.
