This vineyard, usually quoted as the best in Meursault has an upper part and a lower part split by an old quarry. The famous Clos de Perrieres is the “heart” of the Cru, and the Chateau de Meursault has 1 ha just above this. Les Perrieres was quoted by old-time commentator Dr. Lavelle as being the best white burgundy after the Montrachets: “...the wines of Les Perrieres are perfectly clear with an exquisite scent, and can easily be kept for 30 or 40 years. After the real Montrachets I do not know a more delightful white wine”.
“…the good fairies of wine geology have cast their spell. If we compare with the location of the Puligny-Montrachet 'crus', we can see that the Clos des Perrières is geologically situated in the middle of the Montrachet, like a central strip, at an altitude of 260 metres." - Famous wine chronicler Pascal Ribereau-Gayon
“Fine pale primrose. A powerful concentration of fruit on the nose, plus a little gunflint. There is a different level of volume here compared to the Meursault Charmes, some ripe plums, stopping short of peaches, excellent mineral grip behind, and pleasingly long.” 93-95 points - Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
