Laurent is particularly proud to have plantings across Brouilly and Cote-de-Brouilly that allow the unique rocky terroir of these Crus to come to the fore. This wine, the Corentin, is drawn from 60-year-old gamay vines (Veilles Vignes in anyone else’s books!) that are deeply rooted in a South-East facing vineyard. The soil is sandy with a fine silt present, and studded with the majestic granitic rocks that are common in Brouilly.
“Deep, bright-rimmed ruby. Displays mineral-accented red/blue fruit preserve scents that are lifted by suave floral and mineral flourishes. Stains the palate with appealingly sweet black raspberry and boysenberry flavors that are underscored by tangy acidity and a vein of smoky minerality. Closes very long and subtly tannic, showing sharp delineation and a suave blend of power and delicacy.”
