2021 Von Hovel Saar Riesling Kabinett MAGNUM 1500Ml Bottle

The classic old Mosel 1000lt barrels that lie in the cellar are a sign of the classic approach here. The slate slopes of (arguably) Germany's most famous vineyard Scharzhofberger and the Grand Cru Hutte provide the backbone here and it is almost impossible to think of another wine region that can provide this huge amount of flavour, vivacity and 'cut' in such a light minerally frame.  These wines brim with peach, passionfruit, mandarin, fresh herbs (like sage and mint) and damp earth / rock petrichor notes. The sweetness seems to almost disappear on the palate as the fruit, mouth-watering acidity and slate minerality swirl and unfurl.
