Chateau Cissac – Why Should you Buy Some?
We have had clients that buy this every year (they pay for their en-primeur wine and pick up the new release). Why? Because it’s amazing value for the quality and because it’s made like a far more expensive wine.
- Average age of vines; 34 years
- Yield; a lowish 2 t/acre or 32 hl/ha.
- Cepage; 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot,2% Malbec
- 2023 Alc. 13.2%
- Soil work and terroir; horse, manual and tractor. The vines are situated on a small plateau of mostly gravel close to Pauillac and very close to Pontet Canet, Mouton and Lafite.
- Fermentation and ageing; This is the sort of method you would expect of a much more expensive wine! Fermentation is traditional in stainless steel and oak vats then ageing is 14-16 months in 25% new barriques, with some TAVA clay amphora and a large oak foudre.
“2023 Cissac presents a more dense and austere profile…Medium-bodied, chewy and rich…firm and concentrated with structured tannins…”- Yohan Castaing, thewineadvocate.com
