2018 Chateau Cissac Haut Medoc Cru Bourgeois 750ml Bottle

The juice is fermented in huge wooden vats but is then aged in 225-litre oak barrels, 40% of which are new. With the vineyard established on a bed of gravel over a limestone base, it is unsurprising to see such a predominance of Cabernet Sauvignon and the style of the wine mirrors this, as it is made in a classic Medoc style.

The 2018 Cissac has a generous, fruit driven bouquet, a mixture of red and black fruit laced with violet and light tobacco scents.  The palate is medium-bodied with a potent marine/seaweed influenced opening, tangy in the mouth with an iodine finish. This conveys a lot of personality. A fine Cissac that should give 12-15 years of drinking pleasure. 90 points.Neal Martin, Vinous

Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Cissac gives up savory notions of dried Provence herbs, charcuterie and Sichuan pepper over a core of red and black currant preserves with a touch of graphite.
