"The warm vintage was saved by the generous yields believe it or not. If the yields were low, the fruit may have been heavier and the wines mawkish, but miraculously the not only have whites from this warmer than average vintage turned out well, they have continued to go up in my estimations and are ageing at a snails' pace! Charmes, in particular is the "richest" of the 1er Crus BUT this is fresh, vigorous, minerally as well as beautifully dense. The oak sits in the background, the gently grippy phenolic lick, nice acidity and touch of minerality add harmonic completeness." - Randall
