Doosberg is Prinz’s closest site to the Rhine and also the lowest in altitude, so it makes Prinz’s most opulent and richest wine. The small amount of grapes are given a single night's skin-contact maceration, and then pressed and fermented using pied de cuve in steel tanks. This is a complex crazy wine with rose petal, fresh herb elements, yellow orchard fruits, almond meal, doughy yeast-lees character and intense lime juice, lemongrass with lemon pith. The 2022 Riesling Oestricher Doosberg Grosses Gewächs has the merest touch of blossom honey on the nose amidst its Mirabelle juiciness, denoting ripeness and generosity. The palate, however, is a picture of coolness and clarity-bright, radiant and glowing with fruit, but with a fine soothing aspect and beautifully expressive stone fruit. This has fill but no fat.
