"Falkenlay: "normally the best vineyard, for me, on the grey slate, and best for sweet wines. It’s a vineyard in a small amphitheatre, and sees very little wind, and some humidity, so no dryness pressure, and always high vitality”, explains Clemens Busch. The vines are very old too (70-years-old, or so). Slick and slippery texture with perceived sweetness a thing, but no botrytis is used and the wine is only 5.5 grams residual sugar. It has some richness, almost tropical fruit character, oily citrus too, and then the finish is stony, slate-like and almost sparkling minerally in feel.
