2014 Brovia Barolo ‘Unio' 750Ml Bottle

While ample evidence supports Brovia for being at the top of their game in a new era of Barolo, the 2014 Barolo Ūnĭo stands perhaps at the forefront of this testament. To be clear - 2014 is on record as one of the most challenging vintages in memory for Barolo. That is why this bottle, a diamond in the rough, has a lot to say about Brovia's capacity for making magic. 

Facing immense losses in yield, the team was forced to sell half of the production in bulk, while the rest was blended into this single (and thus rare!) bottling called Ūnĭo, composed of the lower sector of Brea containing the best-exposed and oldest vines, plus two undisclosed Crus. The result is unique, uncompromised, surprisingly offers remarkable depth and is ultimately delicious and well-worth seeking. 

Fast forward 12 years to time of writing, we are looking at a perfectly aged Barolo borne of tribulating times and surfacing all the better. On tasting, there is structural filigree, pristine minerality and the trademark beguiling Brovia boquet. Do not count this one out.
